The Maven of Movement – Again.

Do you do this? I start working out again. It’s Day One and I do twenty minutes. Suddenly I’m walking as if I’m a contestant in a physique competition. I don’t eat shit and I have no desire to spend quality time with my bestie Pinot Grigio (she’s everything – sophisticated, French and always makes me feel better). I’m overly proud of myself and suddenly the healthiest chick on the plant, a maven of movement, the doyenne of fit girl society.

Whatever gets you through in order to get back at it, right!

No secret, but consistency is Queen! And, you’re here Day One (again…)

  1. Don’t beat yourself up about the “again” part just start
  2. Don’t judge your body in the mirror unless it’s to say “soon you are going to be spectacular”. Please talk to yourself the way you’d talk to a friend about her “agains” and her body and her feelings
  3. Put on CUTE workout gear – seriously. It matters. Just like feeling yourself when you’re all set for a big date or first day at work – why is this different, It’s not. If you look good you feel good
  4. Commit to only 10 minutes. The “OMG I can’t do this for an hour I hate this…” is real. Promise yourself you will do at least 10 minutes then you can stop. You will not stop
  5. Work out in the privacy of your own home or if you’re at a gym get a trainer to show you the ropes. Even one or two sessions until you’re familiar with all the machinery.
  6. Set goals. Not huge unsurmountables. Bite-size. I will work out 3 days this week. I will only drink alcohol on the weekend (not in a binge-drinking kind of way, but you get the idea)
  7. REWARDS! My favourite. I relate them to exercise tho. Consistency buys me a massages or Lululemons, Athleta, Sweaty Betty or Carbon 38 (ahhhh, I’m getting distracted)
  8. Put on your favourite inspirational music – if not during why not after? Do a little dance around the house – no ones watching and if they are who cares.
  9. Be PROUD. Each step, kick, jump rope and weight is taking you in the right direction.
  10. Remember, you are out of bed likely around 16 hours – you have time to do this
  11. Most importantly, you are not, nor ever will be too old, that is not what this fam is about. Congratulations, Queen!
